The PROBLEM
Environmental Degradation from Plastic Waste
Ivory Coast's striking cities of Abidjan and Yamoussoukro confront concerning ecological threats as plastic trash amasses at an alarming pace, besmirching the urbanscape while also jeopardizing public health and the environment. Furthermore, sustainable building materials remain scarce, obstructing the adoption of eco-conscious construction that could mitigate harm. To truly tackle this complex issue, creative solutions must emerge at all levels, from grassroots community action to bold government policies supporting green infrastructure and incentives for renewables. Only then can the astounding natural beauty of Ivory Coast be preserved for future generations while fostering an ethical economy rooted in ecological principles.
The SOLUTION
Converting Waste into Useful Products
ECOTRA collects, sorts, processes, and transforms plastic waste into durable, eco-friendly recycled plastic materials used for paving stones and other sustainable construction products.
By recycling and reusing waste plastic, we are helping to reduce plastic pollution and pave the way towards a cleaner, greener future.
PLASTIC PAVERS
We recycle waste plastic into eco-friendly and durable pavers to help reduce pollution
We recycle post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste into sturdy plastic pavers to give the waste new life instead of landfilling.
Our plastic pavers are made from recycled materials, diverting plastic waste from landfills and oceans. The manufacturing process has low emissions.
The pavers can withstand heavy foot traffic and last for decades with minimal maintenance required.
Our plastic pavers are great for driveways, sidewalks, patios, pool decks, parks, plazas and more.
Plastic pavers can reduce installation and lifetime ownership costs compared to poured concrete or natural stone.
As we are planning to be one of the pioneers in recycled plastic paving solutions in Ivory Coast and West Africa, ECOTRA is planning to prevent over 5 million kg of plastic waste from ending up in landfills. Our production increase target is to double annual output to over 15 million sqm by 2035 through new advanced extrusion lines, allowing us to reuse over 10million kg of plastic waste per year in durable, sustainable pavement products.
ECOTRA collects post-consumer plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills and repurposes it into our innovative pavement solutions. We will keep over 300 million plastic bottles and bags out of landfills annually through our recycled plastic pavers.
Our pavement solutions will reduce carbon emissions by over 75% compared to concrete alternatives. We will save over 450 million litres of water yearly through our production process. Our goal is to reuse 30% of Cote d'Ivoire's plastic waste in sustainable infrastructure projects by 2035.
